The term mover and shaker took on new meaning for two individuals from Barrett Moving & Storage and Boulevard Moving & Storage this week when they were awarded one of the Van Lines' highest honors, the Van Operator of the Year award. Tom Bechtold of Burnsville, MN, is the United Household Goods Continental Fleet Van Operator of the Year, while and Nolan McCann of Milwaukee, WI, is the Mayflower Special Products Fleet Van Operator of the Year.
The Van Operator of the Year Awards are given to those who demonstrate outstanding performance in the areas of customer service, safety and cargo claims prevention, good communications, among other criteria. To be eligible for this prestigious award, a van operator must have been selected in one of the Van Operator of the Month categories within the July 1 - June 30th period. According to Randy Koepsell, president of Barrett/Boulevard Moving & Storage, "We're extremely proud of both Tom and Nolan. We set a high standard for excellence at Barrett and Boulevard, and they consistently meet and exceed our expectations. Tom and Nolan join a growing and distinguished list of Barrett/Boulevard Van Operators of the Year.
To earn the distinction of United Household Goods Continental Fleet Van Operator of the Year, Bechtold demonstrated his commitment to quality customer service, safety, claims performance and his overall relationship with Barrett and the van line. He is a go-to guy on high profile moves. Tom has been with the Barrett organization since 1988 and has been recognized as a Van Operator of the Month numerous times, Koepsell said. Tom will be the first to say that a part of this honor can be attributed to the invaluable assistance he gets from Nancy Nielsen.
McCann's commitment to being on time and getting the job done right contribute to his recognition as the Mayflower Special Products Fleet Van Operator of the Year. Because of his sterling reputation, Nolan is consistently requested to handle important electronic and tradeshow account shipments, Koepsell said. He has a customer service orientation along with a great safety and claims performance record. Nolan has been with the Boulevard organization since about 1996.
Both Bechtold and McCann were recognized among only six honorees in their respective categories -- from a field of more than 7,000 Mayflower and United van operators. Each winner received a $500 check, along with special logo-wear and cab decals.
Milwaukee Van Operator Pat Stapelfeldt Repeats Boulevard's Van Operator of the Year Award
Boulevard's Milwaukee office is pleased to announce that Van Operator Pat Stapelfeldt has been named Van Operator of the Year by Mayflower Transit. He repeats the achievement of Chuck Cherry, 2007 Van Operator of the Year.
UniGroup President Richard McClure congratulated Pat as one of the "best of the best" among the premier van operators in our industry. Since the award is based on excellence in service delivery, claims statistics, safety performance, customer relations, and operational commitment, it takes a well-rounded individual to win the award.
Stapelfeldt began his career at Boulevard in 1994, and has experience in both household goods moving and Special Services transportation - moving padded van shipments that are not household goods. He currently specializes in in Special Services. He has been an owner/operator since 2000, and is known around his Milwaukee agency as a "snazzy dresser."
"We're proud of the consistent high quality that our van operators deliver to every one of our customers," says Mike Hansen, Vice President and General Manger. "Pat is a fine example of the best in our industry and I'm pleased and proud to see him recognized."
Stapelfeldt will attend the Mayflower annual convention in Palm Desert, California, where he will receive his award and a little time off from truck driving.
